Can media and ondemand use the same uploaded files?

Is there a way to upload files to one location, and have both media (for streaming) and ondemand functions use the same files? (to avoid uploading/storing the same files twice)

(I saw there is some way to use symlinks -- is that part of doing such?

Unfortunately not. Centovacast does not support symlinks for security reasons.
